Congress election manifesto just released and my first impression: out of 16 point agenda for empowerment of SC, ST and OBC, there is only one specific agenda for Adivasis which says -We will focus on development activities for creating social and economic opportunities for Scheduled Tribes. We will ensure the stringent implementation of PESA, 1996 and the Forest Rights Act, 2006 to ensure that Scheduled Tribes are empowered and brought into the mainstream. WTF! We had duly submitted our manifesto for Adivasi empowerment but none of them are there! 1. Where is roadmap to address the issue of 34000+ adivasi under trials wrongly languishing in jails? no special courts or legal support. 2. Where is moratorium on mining proposal? 3. what happened to demand of migrant adivasi in tea gardens? Displacement? land alienation?? Filling up vacant positions for ST reserved seats??? Inclusion of tribal language in curriculum? Hello Mr. Rahul Gandhi, did u doze off when I was speaking?????
