Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter (NH-01) announced that the Institute of Museum and Library Services has awarded the National Society of Colonial Dames of America in the State of New Hampshire a $24,966 grant to be used for a comprehensive project to develop onsite and online learning experiences and resources for students in grades 9-12, centered on the issues addressed by the 1779 Petition of Freedom. “I am proud to support funding for the Institute of Museum and Library Services so museums such as the Moffatt-Ladd House can receive grants to continue their work. The museum is a historical treasure to our community. This project will provide high school students a valuable learning opportunity,” said Shea-Porter. We are really excited about having the funding for this project. The topic is an important one, and this project reaches out and involves students on the high school level in grappling with difficult historical issues that continue to have relevance for us in todays society. Barbara M. Ward, director/curator, Moffatt-Ladd House and Garden.
