Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth (IL-8) continues to show the way to a clean energy future for her state of Illinois, leading an appeal to Speaker Boehner to extend the wind energy Production Tax Credit. We are proud that our state of Illinois is at the heart of the wind industry in North America, Duckworth and fellow Reps. Mike Quigley (IL-5), Rep. William Enyart (IL-12), Rep. Brad Schneider (IL-10), Rep. Cheri Bustos (IL-17), Rep. Jan Schakowsky (IL-9), Rep. Bobby Rush (IL-1) and Rep. Robin Kelly (IL-2), wrote Boehner yesterday. Unfortunately, the PTC expired at the end of last year and is affecting thousands of our constituents who are involved in the wind energy industry. We know from years past that the uncertainty caused by delays in extending the PTC has seriously harmed this sector of the American economy. We must take prompt action to renew the PTC to prevent those damaging effects from being felt again in Illinois, and all across the country.
