Connie Hummel gave me the number 6 - so I am supposed to post 6 random things about me that may not be known. Then if you like my post, I will assign you a number - pass it on! 1 - I was ordained and installed as a Minister of The Word and Sacrament (Pastor) in the Presbyterian Church (USA) in March, 2009 as Associate Pastor for Discipleship at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Austin, Texas. I retired from that call December 31, 2012. 2 - In April 2013 I returned to work - part-time - as Director of Music Ministry for St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in north Austin. I continue there and am having a wonderful and very blessed time with this loving community of faith. 3 - My grandmother -LaVaughn Wattenbarger - was honored by becoming the first woman ever licensed to preach by the Oklahoma Conference of the United Methodist Church when I was very young - before we all moved to Augusta, Kansas. 4 - Wife - Mary Helen - and I have four wonderful married daughters and we are blessed with six grandchildren - at least that is the current number - with 4 of them here in Austin and the other two based in Houston - even though the oldest is in her third year at Ole Miss. 5 - I love model trains!! Started when I was in the Air Force, serving in Wiesbaden, Germany, with HO gauge in European prototype - now N gauge - getting ready to build a layout that presents my memory of the area where I was born - complete with the Kansas City Southern Southern Belle passenger train. Plus - I love to cook!! 6 - Mary Helen and I serve as personal staff for three furry feline children - Socks, Teeters, and Niblet!!!!!!!!! If you are in the Austin area ever - we would love to reconnect with folks!!!
