Conquering Death! In my devotions this morning, I am remembering the life of my nephew, Darrell Keith Carroll, who was my co-laborer in Christ. I will miss his presence, warmth, sincerity and expressions of love for our Savior. I will forever carry wonderful memories of him in my heart. To be absent from the body is to be present with The Lord. Only his outer shell remains on this earth. His life, his soul, his spirit - the essence of his being is now present with our everlasting, ever-present Savior, Jesus Christ. Because Christ lives, my nephew lives. He is alive and not asleep. Death has no hold over him. So what does that mean for me? I dont have to say good-bye. Rather, its see you later. Because one day, I will join my nephew in his new, eternal home. And that gives me comfort.
