Conservatives in Switzerland, and a minority of Conservatives in the US have a great idea. Cancel all the complex web of crazy, weird, mean programs that sickly, old, poor people cant even keep up with, and just give everyone a minimum income. In the end, if you just give a broke dude enough to pay rent and food and utilities and health insurance, then you dont need to hire nine agencies with ten welfare programs all with different rules and different forms and each requiring a zillion workers. Id love to evaporate HUD and just get a check to rent the same as I do wherever. Id love to just have my check cover the food stamps and Medicare Copays and just sack Medicaid altogether. Oddly, if you just pay people enough, in their jobs or their welfare, then you can get rid of about half the bureaucracy, which was paying the same anyway, but just spread over energy programs and nutrition programs and housing programs and blah blah blah. Just dump it all and raise minimum wage, minimum income to where people need none of it. It meets the Conservative goal of shrinking government a lot, lessening the tax burden a lot and making poor people and sick people and old people less nervous trying to keep track of ten crazy programs, all of which torment me continually and are the biggest hindrance to my health recovery.
