Consider the latest revelations about the NSA – the National Security Agency – and its domestic spying. And consider these revelations in light of Obama’s recent declaration that “We don’t have a domestic spying program.” The Washington Post and other news outlets are now reporting that the NSA has been breaking its own privacy rules consistently, thousands of times a year, overstepping its legal authority to intercept and monitor the electronic communications of innocent Americans. And it’s likely these privacy violations are just the tip of a very large iceberg. As the audit of the NSA spy operations only looks at a cross-section of data, at a sampling of the spy agency’s activity. So, now it’s being widely reported that, yes, the NSA has been listening in, tapping in, eavesdropping on the communications of who knows who, here in America. And this is coming out within days of President Obama, on the Tonight Show, assuring us that, “We don’t have a domestic spying program.” So was the President flat out lying? Or was he playing us once again, was Obama being artfully Clintonian is parsing, in dancing with semantics, when he said there is no “program”? Instances, yes. Anomalies, ok. Mistakes, mess-ups, maybe. But no official program. Just rogue agents in Cincinnati. Obama basically lying while he’s technically telling the truth – his version of the truth. And what about the situation in Egypt, where the violence, the bloodshed, the body count is threatening to tear apart the country? The President took time from his vacation to tell reporters that, while he condemns the raging conflict between the Muslim Brotherhood and the Egyptian military, Obama says “We don’t take sides”. No, no, we’re just impartial observers – We don’t take sides. Really? Then why are we continuing to send hundreds of millions of dollars in aid to the Egyptian military? Why did team Obama support the ascension of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Morsi to the presidency before he was ousted? We don’t take sides?
