Consider this: 2001 A Space Odyssey had a moon base, but the phones in that moon base were as big as a person and bolted to a single location. We dont have hoverboards, but we can speak face to face and in real time with people on the other side of the planet *for free*. We dont have flying cars, but chances are you have right now in your pocket a device that contains more information than was held in the Great Library of Alexandria, and can instantly access several million times that. In the big flashy surface ways, the future may seem to be a disappointment, but you only need barely scratch that surface to see that the future we are living in has already far surpassed humanitys wildest dreams.
