Considering amazing food while at a La Cocina meeting today... Perhaps fantastical food occurs when memory meets fantasy; here, our rational and psychic minds are at an odds with each other and cant quite comprehend what they are experiencing. This reminds me of the psychotherapy practice EMDR where the patient receives bilateral stimulation while reviewing emotional responses to past situations and giving new, conscious responses. This process allows the patient to overwrite their subconscious interpretation of their story with a conscious, beneficial reaction, and effectively rewrites the way they process new situations. I wonder how fantastical food could also potentially rewrite the way people consider nutrition, nourishment, and their relationship with earth//food.
