Gerhart Center for Philanthropy and Civic Engagement Project: Ma’an Arab University Alliance for Civic Engagement Title: Ma’an Senior Advisor Reports to: Assistant Director Contract Type: Consultancy Starting Date: March 2014 Ending Date: December 2014 Job description: 1. Outreach and partnership management: - Develop an outreach strategy for Ma’an Arab University Alliance 2014-2017; - Outreach to senior leaders in at least 4 universities in each of the priority countries: Tunisia, Morocco, Palestine, Yemen, Lebanon, and Jordan; - Follow up on memberships with university senior administrators regionally; 2. Institutional advancement: - Establish a transitional steering committee for Ma’an; - Facilitate the work of the steering committee for transitioning to a board of directors; - Conduct a stakeholder analysis of civic engagement in each country visited; - Develop a three-year fundraising strategy and lead the fundraising efforts along with Gerhart Center senior staff. Profile and experience: - Masters’ degree in social sciences or related field required;PhD is a plus; - Minimum of 10 to 15 years in the field of higher education, community engagement or related fields; - Previous Arab regional experience; - Managerial experience working with multiple partners and funders; - Previous research experience strongly preferred; - Proactive, sound judgment, high capacity to work independently, ability to travel frequently and strong negotiation skills.
