So you want to buy a Maytag Stainless Steele Appliance do you? I would rethink that. After having our Maytag refrigerator for less then 13 months, we noticed spots appearing. Thinking it just needed another good cleaning, we cleaned it with the appropriate recommended cleaning supplies. It did not come off. Turns out, its rust. That picture is the lower freezer door. I also have pictures of the upper refrigerator door and it too is rusting. I contacted Maytag tonight. I got the usual scripted run around and the representative says she knows of no issues with them rusting. Even going so far as in saying Stainless Steele doesnt rust. Which, is correct. Except, Maytags stainless steele does. She then proceeded to try to sell me some polishing/cleaning products that would take away the blemishes, but basically would not solve the rusting issues. Here is a quote from the representative from Maytag Because there is a tremendous amount of hearsay when viewing opinion sites, I would like to reassure you if there were any issues with our products that were out of the norm our engineering team would be addressing the issue. The maytag representative then states it is a cosmetic issue and not covered under the manufacturer warranty. It was a total run around I was given. Seems as rusting is an issue and they refuse to say it is... There are dozens more sites with Maytag complaints... My suggestion is to look at a different manufacturer for your products. Maytag does have a rusting issue and mine started at about 12 to 13 months of buying it brand new. But Maytag says its a cosmetic issue and not a manufacturer issue... I will never buy another Maytag item for as long as I live. Please pass this on and warn your friends....
