Jackson (928) 556-2300 June 05, 2013 The Flagstaff Police Department wants to invite everyone to come out and join us on June 22, 2013 at 11:00 am, for a major clean-up project for the Southside Neighborhood. We will have our Southside officers and a host of volunteers on hand helping out on this major clean-up project targeted to help clean-up specific locations in the Southside neighborhood. This will truly be a joint effort between the Flagstaff Police Department and the citizens living in and around the Southside Community. Following this clean-up event there will be a ceremony celebrating the opening of the new Southside Police substation that will be located in the Murdock Center (203 E. Brannen Ave Flagstaff AZ 86001). We want to again, invite everyone to come out and join us for this celebration. This truly is a great accomplishment to help further building the positive relationships between our local law enforcement and the Southside Community. So again, please come out and join us for these two great events and we will have refreshments following the ceremony of the opening of the substation. On 06-22-2013 the Southside Community will be receiving a face lift. Several volunteers will be gathering together in the Southside in order to pick up garbage and paint over graffiti. The Parameters of the Southside include Milton East Bound to Lone Tree, and Route 66 Southbound to Franklin. Please Find a Summary of the Responsibilities of each Contributor (subject to change): • Murdoch Center – providing a location for lunches to be eaten, volunteers, and canned food drop off location. (in connection with the National Food Bank) • Flagstaff Police Department – Substation grand opening, volunteering and planning event. • NAU (STAR Program) – providing volunteers and planning event. • Boys and Girls Club – providing volunteers • The Sunshine Rescue Mission – volunteering their van and driver to pick up bulk items. They would also like to contribute with volunteers. • Morning Dew Landscaping – providing volunteers and equipment. (The use of a trailer to place shrubbery in at the Ernest location in order to transport to the larger dump and also landscaping equipment. We will be trimming back weeds and picking up garbage.) • Full Circle Thrift Store – providing volunteers • City of Flagstaff – Donating trash bags, providing us with a large dumpster, removing the large dumpster and providing us with the Graffiti Van and the supplies inside. Please Find a Summary of the Locations we will be concentrating on: • Rio on S. O’Leary • Rio on Ellery between Verde and Agassiz • Rio behind the Conoco (101 E. Butler) • Documented graffiti in the Southside neighborhood • Bulk item pickup (i.e. mattresses) throughout the Southside (Lone Tree area down to Pine Knoll, Franklin north to Route 66 and Milton east to Lone Tree.) • Ally of Ernest on Franklin (getting rid of dirt jumps and landscaping) • 1 E. Brannon Circle (at the Boys and Girls Club) Anyone is welcome to join and we encourage Southside residents and business owners to join in on the fun. We ask that you bring some type of gardening gloves in order to assist you with picking up garbage as some items may be sharp. After the Cleanup, at 1100 Hours, volunteers will migrate to the Murdoch Center for the Opening Ceremony of the Flagstaff Police Department Substation. There will be cake and punch.
