SRI NARSI MEHTA - PART 2 - SRI SRI MURALIDHARA SWAMIJI In this edition of Saint Sketch, we take a look at the great saint from Gujarat, who glorified the path of Bhakti - Shri Narsi Mehta. ----------------------------------- Lord Shankaras presence in the shrine gave our tender Narsi, a great sense of relief. He thought that the only place where he could seek refuge is the holy feet of Lord Shiva who is used to give solace and bliss to many such tender lads who came unto him such as Gnanasambanda, Upamanyu, Chandeeswara Nayanar. Narsi went and hugged the Lord in the sanctorum with great fear. He started singing the glories of the Lord Sankara and sought his blessings to escape not only from the deep woods but also from the family life which is more mysterious and complicated than the woods. Having walked very far, Narsi fell asleep upon the Lingam hugging him tightly. Suddenly he felt that he was sleeping on somebody’s lap and also felt smooth touch of a hand caressing his hair. Raising his head, he saw Lord Shiva clad in Tigers skin, with a moon-digit adorning his head, bedecked with Kapala mala (garland of skulls), Nagabharana (snake ornaments) and Thrishula (Trident). He was astounded seeing the wonderful countenence of the Lord. The Lord asked him to give up fear and cast his benign glance upon our Narsi. The Lord said that he would give Narsi something which is the sweetest of the sweetest, something which is deemed to be the supreme as regards to prema bhaktas, something for which even the Jnanis crave for. Telling this he caught Narsi by his hands and took him to Vrindaban through Akasha marga. Narsi was amazed at the glance of the great place, the place where his sweet lord revels in his divine sports with the gopis of vraja. Lord Parameshwara asked Narsi to keep quiet and watch the proceedings. Suddenly Narsi could hear a sonorous music produced by a flute, which cast a magic spell not only upon mankind but even the normal creatures roaming about the Vrindaban. The entire Vrindaban stood motionless listening to this magnificent sound and soon after this he could see his great lord Krishna, entering Vrindaban with all the other gopis for the divine Rasa leela. Krishna was clad in an yellow silk robe and bedecked with wonderful Vaijayanthi mala, peacock feather, srivatsa, Kausthuba and hari chandan was applied all over his chest. Immediately, the divine rasa started. Narsi was spell bound! Suddenly he found that the Lord Shankara who was standing alongside Narsi was missing and Shri Krishna caught hold of his hands. In a short while, the Lord vanished with all the gopis, and to his awe he found himself in the same temple where he was lying, hugging Lord Shiva. The sun had already started rising in the eastern skies. Lord Shankara by his benign grace had lit the lamp of Jnana (Wisdom) in Narsis life through Krishnanubhava. No wonder why Lord Shankara is called Loka Guru! !!! Will Continue !!! !!! More devotion through e-satsang to follow - Be blessed !!! -------------------- Regards & Chant the Mahamantra Nama kirtan: Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare.
