Contemporary society has confused journalism with talking heads. - TopicsExpress

Contemporary society has confused journalism with talking heads. With few exceptions, television consists of reporters, not journalists. A reporter is basically a reader. A journalist is a truth seeker, a truth speaker. A journalist has dirt under his nails. A reporter has a manicure. Journalists may include their opinions but they separate fact from opinion. How would the American Revolution have ended without Thomas Paine? Would we still have a presence in Viet Nam if journalists had not been embedded? Will Woodward and Bernstein be remembered as well as Richard Nixon? The pen is still mightier than the sword. Thank you, James Foley, and all who risk their lives as truth seekers.
