**Context note** Moondad was my mothers mom. When I was a baby I could not say Grandad, and said Moondad instead, and thereafter the name stuck with him and all the grandchildren who followed called him that too. He and my grandmother Mutti had friends outside the city of Amarillo named John and Mildred Spears. They are mentioned here. And Moondad taught me to make arrowheads out of thin flakes of flint, a deer antler, and a piece of leather. July 19, 1981 Sun. Today I woke up ,(Have you noticed that Ive started most of my journal with Today I woke up?). Anyway, today I woke up and Tommy Butler called and asked if I could spend the day with him. I went over to his house and we went to a 7-11 store to get a drink of water and read some comic books. But Moondad was going to take us out looking for arrowheads at 4:30 and when I looked on the clock, it was 6:38, and said, Lets go! So we rode as fast as we could over there, to find that no one was there. So we played until they got home at about 7:15. And then we went to look for arrowheads at John and Mildred Spears house. They have a prarie dog yard, full of prarie dog holes. There was one prarie dog named, Marco, and he wanted to bite us, so he chased us but we could run faster than him (Once a long time ago I remember when he bit me, but I wasnt going to let him bite me again). And when we got home, Moondad gave me an antler to make arrowheads. Tommy and I played games in the dark and then went to bed. I have to go to bed, speaking of bed. See you tomorrow. P.S. Tommy asked me to spend the night with him on the way back from arrowhead hunting. See you tomorrow.
