Continuing on in 1st Timothy chapter 5. Its a long chapter but ist pretty easy to understand. Especially when we as our Father for understanding as we read his word of wisdom. Paul to Timothy here leading him to lead the church there at Epesus. 5:1. Rebuke not and elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren; 2. The elder women as younger as sisters, with all purity. 3. Honour widows who are widows indeed. If people still did these simple things we would have a better world. 4. But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn piety at home, and to requite their parents: For that is good and acceptable before God. Simple. Respect and care for your elders. 5. Now she that is a widdow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, continue in supplications and prayers night and day. 6. But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she do it. Again real simple. If a woman becomes a widow and begins to live it up and falls away then she is dead spiritually. 7. And things give in charge that they may be blameless. 8. But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infadel. How many of these do we know. Dead beat dads they call them. There are also dead beat moms and they dont have to be devorced. The word here says they are worse than an infadel, a non believer! Why worse than an infadel? It tells you why. Because they have denied the faith by not prividing for their family. Sad sad! 9. Let no widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man. 10. Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she hath washed the saints feet, if she hath relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently every good work. 11. But the younger widows refuse: for when they begin to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry. Take care of the good widow but the younger one will give up on Christ not trusting in him to care for her and she will marry. 12. Having damnation because the have cast off their first faith. 13. And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle but tattlers and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not. Paul is saying an immature woman needs a man to keep her in line. Oh the feminist would have a field day here! 14. I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully. Now how many think the bible is out of date? Think it needs to be brought up with the times? The pope does, so do gay activists and feminist groups. I think God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. I know women have to work to make ends meet these days but a woman is a woman and a man a man. Know your roll. Dont be angry or disagree with God because you arent first in the pecking order. Its Gods way and its good and meant to be. How much better off would we be if women and men knew and performed their roll in life? 15. For some are already turned after satan. 16. If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widiws indeed. Do not just leave it up to the church. Do your part. 17. Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially those who labour in the word and doctrine. 18. For scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And the laborer is worthy of his reward. 19. Against the elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses. Do not believe just anything said about an elder. Get it from two or three witnesses. 20. Them that sin rebuke before all, that others may also fear. 21. I charge thee before God, and before Jesus christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before the other, doing nothing by partiality. 22. Lay hands suddenly on no man, niether be a partaker of another mans sins: keep thyself pure 23. Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomachs sake and thine often infirmities. Do not be a drunkard. It says a little wine. 24. Some mens sins are open beforehand, going before to judgement; and some men they follow after. 25. Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand, and they that are other wise can not be hid. Careful who you keep company with. Birds of a feather flock together!
