Continuing with thanks in this Epiphany season, as we remember the story of gifts for Jesus, Sandy Grant, Deacon, gave thanks for those who contributed gift items to the Angel Tree Gifts for Children Ministry. These gifts become the stock for a deeply discounted (75%) Christmas gift store” opened shortly before Christmas at the Bible Missionary Baptist Church in Bluffton. This provides a way for parents to maintain their dignity as they participate in providing their children with presents. All proceeds from the sale are donated to charity.Sandy shared an email of thanks from Pastor Paul Hamilton of the Bible Missionary Baptist Church: Sandy Grant: How did the one-day Christmas Store go? Pastor Hamilton: “It went great! The rains came with about $200.00 dollars’ worth of items left. Shortly after we moved them into the foyer, a lady came and spent $100. $570.00 was made that will be split between the American Cancer Society and the Bible Missionaries… It was a blessed Day!!! Tell all of the crew that intended to provide a Merry Christmas for the kids: Mission Accomplished!!!! Be Blessed and a very Merry Christmas to you!! We applaud your hearts of giving. Be Blessed, Pastor Paul” Sandy Grant: Pastor Paul informed me that “the Bible Missionaries” are a group of women from the church/ the Bluffton Community that work under the Bible Missionary Baptist Churchs 501(c)3 status. They donate $25.00 to $50.00 per month to as many sick and shut-ins as possible. They also go into homes to help clean and cook for those that cannot do it for themselves. This year the very few unsold toys and clothes were donated to two families in the Bluffton area that had house fires and one mother of four that was diagnosed with terminal cancer.
