Contract type Temporary Hi, my name is Kiah and I work for the British Red Cross in-house team as a professional door 2 door fundraiser. My team and I get paid a minimum of £9 p/h with a potential of £13 p/h if we hit our very reachable targets. We generally work Monday to Friday from 2:30pm till 9pm, we are paid for our breaks and also get our travel expenses covered when we venture out of town, which is an amazing perk of the job! Since working as a fundraiser for the British Red Cross I have developed a wide range of skills that I can use in future roles in many different industries - it gives you a massive confidence boost and I find myself talking to really interesting people all the time! – I work in a very friendly, fun and positive environment – there is never a boring day at the British Red Cross! When I first started the staff were very welcoming, they make you feel as though you have been there for years. I received 2 full days training and I’ve had on-going support from each of my team leaders and my manager – the rest of the fundraisers are also keen to swap ideas too which is great! The British Red Cross offers many opportunities for progression into leadership and management – which is great for anyone that wants to climb the ladder. The British Red Cross really do care about all of their staff, thanks to this role I have been fully trained in First Aid and how to use a defibrillator which means if someone has an accident or there is an emergency I can be the hero and potentially save a life!
