#ContributetoreliefworkinUttarakhandwithMAITRI 4 trained volunteers from “MAITRI” have reached Uttarakhand to assess the situation and provide help to the flood affected people. The group will move on to Pithorgarh for further assessment. Dharchula region is also badly affected like Badrinath and Kedarnath. Here “MAITRI” has joined hands with a local NGO ‘Arpan’, which needs trained and experienced volunteers. The first assessment report sent by this team emphasizes urgent need of certain supplies like plastic sheets to cover temporary shelters where the rescued and displaced people could stay. Clothes in good condition and also blankets. ‘MAITRI’ has planned to collect this material within next 4 days and send it by train on Saturday, 29th June. “MAITRI” appeals citizens to collect this material and also raise fund for purchase and transport of required material during the relief work. Soon the group will get an idea about the long term work which will be needed to undertake for rehabilitation of the affected. (preferably pressed) Separate sets for gents, ladies and kids should be prepared Each set should contain – For gents – shirt/T shirt and pant Ladies – saree, blouse and petticoat, OR salwar kamiz Kids – complete set according to male or female child Each set should be packed in separate plastic bag and it should be labled accordingly e.g. gents OR female child of 7 years. Blankets , etc. should also be clean and neatly folded and packed in plastic bag. Please keep such sets ready and then contact MAITRI office to get when and where to hand over it.
