Qualified candidates will have: Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field, Masters degree preferred. At least 10 years of experience in commercial real estate management and development. At least 5 years management experience. Background in Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) principles is preferred. CPA License is preferred Extensive exposure to operational real estate elements such as lease administration and project management Well rounded experience in all financial areas to include accounting, budgeting, investments and auditing. Professional demeanor and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs as well as experience with real estate enterprise programs such as Yardi, MRI or Timberline. Strong leadership and change management skills. Typical duties include: Supports the operational matrix organization through constant interaction with leadership in the various functional groups such as Business Unit Managers, Property Management, Project Development and Construction Management. Improves policies, processes and procedures that impact accounting functions in conjunction with other department leaders. Documents improvements within ISO guidelines. Reviews the processing of all financial activity to ensure the General Ledger meets the reporting requirements. Monitors compliance with documented internal controls and recommends any necessary adjustments for changes in operations, conditions or best practices. Reviews alternatives for temporary cash investments and provides the best returns available within acceptable risk limitations. Assumes the role of primary external CPA audit firm. Leads the Accounting team and other departments through any internal audit event. Reviews overall financial performance of overhead departments and works with department leaders on achieving goals. Reviews and recommends improvements regarding tenant related accounting issues. The above description covers the principal duties and responsibilities of the job.
