#Controvercy101 What is faith? To different people, faith has the same meaning maybe not the same way of defining it. Essentially, it has something to do with belief! As a Christian, a Catholic one, the Church teaches us that Faith is VERY important as it serves as the basis of most the Major Doctrine of the Mother Church. Because its very difficult to explain what we can not see, the Church has named some of our profound thoughts and questions about Christianity as MYSTERIES- Unfathomable! It is, therefore, imperative that we, Christian, have Faith or else our belief has no basis. The Bible says Faith is the substance of things hope for; the evidence of things not seen( hebrew 11:) While believing strongly, without evidence, is considered a mark of madness or stupidity in any other area of our lives, faith in God still holds immense prestige in our society. Religion is the one area of our discourse where it is considered noble to pretend to be certain about things no human being could possibly be certain about. It is telling that this aura of nobility extends only to those faiths that still have many subscribers. Anyone caught worshipping Obatala or Esulalu, even ordianry Tree, will be thought insane and fetish. As a Christian, ℓ̊ hear things like Humility, TOLERANCE, Compassion, Forgiveness etc. Adjectives that pay lips service without doing anything. Arent you tired of hearing them? Why not start acting them? Especially Tolerance, which is lacking in our society as there is something called Religious Freedom as guaranteed by our Constitution(Section 10 and 38).
