Controversy as a soldier and a civilian clash in an auto crash Controversy is raging in Benin City following a motor accident involving a soldier and a civilian along Airport Road by Oko Central Junction. Wellington Akodeja quotes some eye-witnesses as saying that the civilian was taken away to an unknown destination by the soldier and some of his colleagues whom he allegedly called on telephone to the scene. The two vehicles involved in the accident, a pathfinder SUV with registration number Edo-BEN366AA and a space wagon car Edo-USL09AG were still at the scene of the accident. Residents of the area including passers-by and sympathizers were at the scene apparently waiting to see the out-come of the issue. Policemen from airport police station were at the scene to control traffic. Some eyewitnesses said the space wagon car driven by the military man who was allegedly said to have disobeyed the traffic light collided with the pathfinder vehicle negotiating a bend into central road. The eyewitnesses said driver of the space wagon vehicle with army uniform in the car made a telephone call to his colleague who allegedly arrived the scene in a commando like manner and descended on the driver of the other vehicle who they were said to have taken away to an unknown destination. Reacting to the allegation of the manhandling of a civilian through a telephone interview, the Army public relations officers Four Brigade Nigeria Army, Captain Rose Managbe said the army personnel did not manhandle the civilian, nothing that it was a mere collision between two drivers which she said has since been resolved at the time of this report, it was gathered that the two vehicles have been removed from the scene to airport police station.
