Conversation About Race Held at Lifetree Café An open conversation about racial understanding will take place at Lifetree Café on Sunday, January 11 at 7 p.m. The program, titled “What Your Black Friend Wants You to Know: The Conversation About Race No One Is Having,” includes a film featuring honest insights from black Americans about their experience with race. “White people—the dominant culture—think the country has moved on,” says Anthony Smith, a black pastor and facilitator of the “Musings of a Postmodern Negro” blog. “But there’s still an underlying racial narrative in this country. Stuff is still happening.” Admission to the 60-minute event is free. Snacks and beverages are available. Lifetree Café is located at Gumbo’s, 53 N Walnut, Mt. Clemens. Lifetree Café is a place where people gather for conversation about life and faith in a casual coffeehouse-type setting.
