Conversations and personal convictions...I am a teacher of calligraphy. I have come to realize that there are few enough of us around that if I dont approach my teaching with the personal conviction and responsibility of passing on whatever knowledge I can of the history of what calligraphy is, providing the roadmap for what we practice today, I fail my students. Some may choose to learn lettering as a weekend hobby interest, some may choose to seek higher levels of advancement—either is fine. But I will remain committed to providing the framework that helps define where what they are learning came from and why. I hope some of you feel the same.
