The firm has earned a solid reputation among its clients and missions worldwide and is well-regarded by competitors and partners alike. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION Through the Community Cohesion Initiative (CCI), USAID/Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI) seeks to increase resilience in areas vulnerable to insurgent exploitation by (1) strengthening ties between local actors, customary governance structures, and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GIRoA) and (2) increasing cohesion among and between communities. CCI is one of three principal stabilization programs in Afghanistan. USAID Stabilization Programs are designed to contribute to the achievement of sufficient stability to enable transition to Afghan-led sustainable development. CCI defines resilience as a measure of the sustained ability of an area (e.g., village, village cluster, district) to mobilize available resources to respond to, withstand, and recover from sources of instability; to safely and effectively communicate with customary and formal governance structures; and, to create and mobilize social and cultural networks. OTI implements CCI through clusters of hard and soft small grants – or grant activities combining both elements – many of which address specific requests of local communities. Project processes are as important as project outputs in contributing to the program’s strategic goal. Program objectives are not met solely by refurbishing a school or a clinic (hard grants) but rather are met through an inclusive locally-led process (the soft side) that brings the community (including GIRoA) together to realize its goals and foster linkages and cohesion. The following programming principles highlight key components of OTI’s community-driven, process-oriented approach. Once an area is identified for OTI programming and a local work plan is drafted, OTI utilizes any of the following programming approaches to achieve the program’s strategic objectives. Most district work plans will leverage a combination of the various approaches: Civil Society Economic Development/Agriculture Outreach/Media Village Stability Operations Integrated Civilian/Military Approach Reintegration Governance Gender Duties & Responsibilities: POSITION SUMMARY The Cook is responsible for meal preparations, procuring ingredients and all aspects of kitchen maintenance.
