Cookies and milk? Or Cookies with Milk? It was just another boring day in history class. “I Have a Dream!” Martin Luther King Jr. roared from the promethean board. Yep that’s right we were learning about civil rights. So after a long and tiring battle to stay awake at school and running like there is no tomorrow for cross country I go to my place of dwelling. Whilst I do my homework I find the a little nourishment is important to stimulate your brain cells to help you think of better and more precise answers. I read something by an unknown author only known as The Oatmeal that read “They say you are supposed to treat your body like a holy temple, I treat mine like a fast moving garbage disposal.” I have found this to be very true! So I pondered the thought of nourishment that I should feed my brain and I thought hmm milk and cookies would be good right about now. Not this 2% milk either I am talking about muscle building whole milk. As I was sitting down I took a long gulp of milk and then had a bite of my cookie, separately. Then it hit me like a thousand pillows beating me in the face. Who am I to separate the milk from the cookies? Why is it milk and cookies and not milk with cookies? Then the drastically bold idea came to mind. I should dip the cookies in the milk. Segregation was abolished 50 some odd years ago so who am I to segregate anything? Neither blacks with whites or cookies with milk should have the horrible word and in between them. NO! It was not right, it was not polite, and frankly it wasn’t as tasty to separate the milk and cookies. When you bring things together everything is seemingly perfect. I then expanded on the idea why it is peanut butter and jelly and not peanut butter with jelly. All these ands and no withs, society is better than this. So now when my friends say I will have cookies and milk I instantly must correct them and say “With! You mean with!” As sad and tedious it must sound it was what the African Americans did to help gain their civil rights and be treated as equals. Well now milk with cookies should be given the same attention. Cookies need the milk to wash it down and the milk needs the cookie to have something to eat with. All these thoughts flooded my already confused and slightly twisted brain but I knew that I had revolutionized the way we look at cookies with milk and how we shall partake in this delicious snack.
