Cool story, I got familiar with Sabado Gigante a 3-hour global TV show on Saturday nights when married to a Latino lady. The producer and creator has hosted this show for over 50 years. He is Don Francisco, real name Mario Luis Kreutzberger Blumenfeld - December 28, 1940, the son of German Jewish immigrants to Chile who were escaping Nazi persecution. Even though he was growing up in Chile, he spent a lot of time in New York City in hopes of learning the tailor trade. Here he watched American television much of the time. When he started his show in Chile at age 22, 1962 - he admitted he invented the shows eclectic format by adapting all of the formulas he had seen in American television. It is a game show, a comedy show, a music and dance show, an audience participation show, a sit-down at the desk with a world diplomat and seriously discuss world event shows, a Candid Camera show, a consumer show and on and on. Thus the three format. The show still draws 100 million Latinos on Saturday night 8-11 and is done live, mostly from Miami but occasionally from Chile on an identical set.
