Coral Propagation Pilot Study Site green series 1 Great day out with the coral propagators at the pilot study site at South Pelong. From setting up the broodstock nursery, to collecting coral fragments and coral propagation on the boat, the video covers it all. Have a look and see what it it is like to be involved with the environment and make a difference with your own hands! This coral propagation program was first launched by Poni Divers and Seamonkey Malaysia in February earlier this year in cooperation with the Fisheries Department and the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources with the Guest of Honor, YB Pehin Yahya, in attendance. The same program was again launched to the public during the World Ocean Day 2014 in June earlier this year with local schools, the Fisheries Department, and many others, involved, again with the Guest of Honor, YB Pehin Yahya, in attendance. This coral propagation program is developed by Anuar Abdullah, the Founder of Ocean Quest Coral Propagation from Malaysia, and has been running successfully across various states in Malaysia. This specific project was picked up by the Society for Community, Outreach, and Training (SCOT) for their Green Exchange H20 program with its main sponsor HSBC fully supporting it all the way. This HSBC SCOT Poni Coral Propagation Project was officially launched a few months ago at Poni Divers Serasa with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports, with the Guest of Honor, YB Pehin Hazair, in attendance. The project is divided into 3 phases: Phase 1, PADI Open Water, Phase 2, 3-day Coral Propagaation Workshop, Phase 3, 6 months of diving to continue the coral propagation at Pelong Rock. 20 participants were selected by SCOT, 5 from HSBC, 5 from SCOT, and 10 from the public. So far, its been lots of hard work, but lots of fun! Follow the project and support us at facebook/scotponicoral and on IG at #savingbruneicorals. More programs, school awareness talks, and community involvement in the coming months. For individuals, schools, and corporate companies interested in getting involved with this program and supporting us, please contact Thye at +673 7109322 or at thye@ponidivers. We welcome the participation of both younger and older school children in our green activities. Video also available on our Youtube Channel, Poni Divers and Dive Brunei!
