Corkscrew shaped bacteria at 1000 times magnification. The - TopicsExpress

Corkscrew shaped bacteria at 1000 times magnification. The resolution is so bad because I did not use oil immersion. This came from some synthetic pond water that I created from Chalkley’s Stock Solution flinnsci/media/406362/bf10576.pdf I added a couple grains of rice to the stock solution to give the bacteria food. Ciliates eat the bacteria. Amoeba or other ciliate predators can be added to create whatever kind of microorganism stock solution you want. One concern on mine is the possibility that I introduced some bacteria that could possibly harm my person. Pathogenic bacteria genus possibilities are Leptospira, Helicobacter, or Borrelia. I am a real green (new) amateur microscopist. Am I being paranoid about the possibility that these bacteria are pathogenic? I always wash and sanitize properly after I touch my stock solutions. ps: the video is only good until ~45 seconds then the video quality gets pretty bad.
