Cornelius Arts Center Welcomes Home Grown Danielle Freeman As Alchemy of Tea comes to an end, CAC begins to prepare for their next exhibit – Home Grown. Home Grown is an exhibit that celebrates the holiday season by showcasing the talent and creativity of local artists. Anyone living in Cornelius and surrounding areas may submit their artwork. This will be my first year experiencing Home Grown and from the looks of the submissions, there will be an overwhelming amount of style and striking beauty revealed in this exhibit. Mixed media photography, acrylic paintings, handmade ceramics sculptures, pots and bowls are among the list of submissions CAC has received so far. Danielle Angell, a local artist residing in Davidson, submitted her artwork titled “Seeking Light.” This breathtaking piece was created by the use of photography and mixed media. It captivates the use of bright colors while revealing her soul feeding passion to inspire and pleasure the eyes of others. Many of Angell’s artwork tells a story while capturing the beauty of the things we take for granted in our everyday lives. For more information on Danielle Angell and to view photos of her strikingly beautiful artwork, you can visit her website: danielleangellphotography.zenfolio/ Debbie Williams, a ceramics student at CAC also submitted her work, “Fish Bowl,” for the Homegrown Exhibit. I admire handcrafted ceramics pieces and found this piece to be very realistic with capturing the look of a fish. Another local artist, Pam Brunschwyler used a unique blend of acrylic and newspaper when putting together her masterpiece, “Urban Jester.” All of the submissions CAC has received are outstanding and I don’t want to spoil the exhibit before anyone gets to see it. I encourage any local artist to submit their work. The deadline to submit is Saturday, November 1 by 12pm. The reception for Home Grown will be November 14 from 6:30-8:30 pm and will be on exhibit until January 22, 2015. Home Grown is an exhibit you will not want to miss. CAC looks forward to many more art submissions in hopes to celebrate creativity for the holiday season.
