Corporate Landcare today, a first for Clean4shore, with a team - TopicsExpress

Corporate Landcare today, a first for Clean4shore, with a team from Telstra, participating in a clean-up from the Davistown RSL to Kincumber. Plenty of smiles, and enthusiasm as we departed from Kincumber Creek in Simons barge. Briefing and WHS issues cleared up in the boat, with the first task to remove a ten foot barge from the mangroves, and onto Simons boat. Team Telstra went into action, displaying all the essential communication, teamwork and WHS strategies to get this barge on board. Well done first task. This was an induction to the mud, mosquitoes, spiders, wasps and stacks of rubbish that followed in the 700 metres of foreshore cleaned. 35 bags of rubbish was hauled out to the boat, often in knee deep mud. Small items were found wedged in dense mangroves, requiring the volunteer to crawl on hand and knees to remove the plastic items. larger items recovered included 18 tyres, some still on rims, foam bedding, which needed cutting out, an old bed frame, pieces of treated and processed timber, metal items and of course the usual oyster products, including 16 bread basket trays With the tide at dead low, the barge had to be pushed through the mud to deeper water. All items were off loaded into the trailer and on the back of Simons truck, another mighty task. 1.36 tonne was delivered to Woy Woy Tip Great job Team Testra, who earned a BBQ at Macmasters Beach Thanks to Corporate Landcare
