Correct me if I am wrong, and may the Lord forgive me if I am - TopicsExpress

Correct me if I am wrong, and may the Lord forgive me if I am wrong on this one! I have noticed these days that the Church (Body of Christ) is filled with the spirit of prosperity, wealth and miracles. Don’t get me wrong, this is a good thing. Problem is, we no longer hear preachings of Salvation! All we ever hear in Church these days is money, prosper, and miracles!!!! Not that I am against it, I, for one know that the Church needs the money, problem is these days one can never be sure whether we go to church to worship God or we’re going to church for business purposes! Church has turned out to be a Market Place, a Trade business! 1. Prosperity.. Hhmm… This is one thing that just gets to me the most with the Church these days. Correct me if I am wrong; according to my understanding Christianity is not a Religion but a Kingdom. And we, as Christians, have been bought with the highest price – that is the blood of Jesus. And for this reason, we are now joint heirs of the Kingdom of God, meaning we have the DNA of God running through our veins now! Now according to my understanding, Children of the Kingdom (Princes and Princesses), any kingdom for that matter – they have everything that they want, anything that silver and gold can buy BECAUSE THEY KNOW THEIR FATHER- THE KING IS WEALTHY AND HE HAS IT ALL!!! What triggers me with this ‘new found truth about prosperity’ in the Church is that Why is it BIG DEAL all of a sudden, why behave as if we didn’t know what we have or who our Father is and what He owns! What Bibles have we been reading kanti all along? Unless we didn’t know whom our Father was before, only messages/preachings like these will excite us and make us think we are enlightened! I mean really, believe me, I have met Christians who attend Church just to hear such messages of prosperity only. They would come to me and tell me things like, “I am glad I came to church. I didn’t know I am so blessed. I didn’t know I qualify. I didn’t know I was born to be wealthy, blah blah, blah!!!!” I mean really, if the Bible says God (our Father) owns silver and gold, what kind of a life do you expect to live kanti wena? When the Bible says Jesus took money out of the mouth of a fish at the command of His Word, what makes you think you can’t have such nawe? Really. The Bible says we are Favoured. We are Blessed. God will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory. He is our Shepard we shall not lack anything. He will not withhold any good thing from us. His blessing adds no sorrow. We shall prosper until we prosper and continue to prosper. It is God who gives us ability to acquire wealth. Promotion comes from God alone…. Children of God, when you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. When you confess with your mouth that He is the Son of God and that He died and rose again and is now seated at the right hand of God. The Bible says you are immediately adopted into the Kingdom of God. You are a new creature. You are now the righteousness of God. All these things that excites you about money and prosperity, ITS YOUR BIRTH RIGHT! You don’t have to be convinced and motivated every Sunday that you own such or that you have such!!! Come on people!! 2. Miracle!!! Oh miracles, miracles, miracles!!!! Jesus said “…. And all these things will follow those who believe.” Paul says “God is able to do exceedingly abundantly more than you think or ask ACCORDING TO THE POWER THAT IS AT WORK WITHIN YOU!” Do note ‘according to the power that is at work in you’. When has miracles become the centre of the Church kanti? Didn’t Jesus say ‘the rivers of the living water shall bubble in our bellies’? Miracles are not meant to be events that we run after but what is within us! Miracles are our daily bread! Miracles were never even meant for Christians in the first place but for non-believers so that they may believe when they see such things!!! I am actually perplexed that these days it is Christians running after miracles not non-believers. They buy ‘holy salts, holy water, holy oil, etc.’ just to have some sort of miracle-event happening in their lives.. Worse thing is, this is not even done for the glory of our Lord Jesus but it is done so that people may know that Pastor so and so, or Prophet so and so has healing powers!!! Really church??? Who gave those gifts kanti njengoba sesi-praise abo Pastor, nabo Prophets, nabo Apostles kanje? Doesn’t the Bible says it is the Holy Spirit that give these gift to the Church??? Aren’t we supposed to do everything for the glory of our Lord Jesus??? These are the only things that are happening in the Church these days, that has drawn the attention of the world and unfortunately we (as the Church) have been deceived into thinking that ‘we are now enlightened with the Truth.’ The Truth according to me, is Jesus Christ (He said, “I am the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE”) and we are called to look unto Him, do what He does, imitate Him. Jesus’ only message He has ever preached while walking on earth was “Repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand.” What happened to those messages. When are starting to tell people about Salvation and Repentance. Lord help! Our Churches have turned out to be BLESS-ME-CLUBS, MOTIVATIONAL-SOCIETIES! The Church is sleeping while awake! Wake us up and Get us up Lord Jesus! Church, according to me, is like a hospital where sick people, wounded people, broken people, heavy-laden and heavy-spirited people go to get help. When they come back from the hospital, its either they are totally healed or given medication to treat the illness! That is our purpose as the Church. We are not a Business where we sell blessings, healing and prosperity for those that can afford but we cater for all and to all, as Jesus has called us to!! He dined with the non-believers in order to reach them and reconcile them with the Father in heaven. And for this reason, we have been saved by His Grace, not by prosperity and money, and definitely not because of the miracles but it is Jesus that saved us, made us whole and gave us the power to do these things! Let us seek the Blesser not the blessings!!! I stand corrected! I, myself, do not judge for I have not been judged (by God). I just thought let us remind each other of the purpose we were called for in the first place!
