Corruption among Yoruba Obas: I will expose corrupt monarchs in South West –Akiolu Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwanu Akiolu, on Monday threatened to expose some corrupt Nigerians, but who are pretending to be saints after the 2015 general elections. The monarch, who was responding to another monarch’s claim that only two out of the country’s renowned traditional rulers are free of corruption, made the threat at the public presentation of a book, ‘Corruption and Human Rights Law in Africa’. The book was authored by Kolawole Olaniyan of the Amnesty International (AI) in Lagos. Oba Akiolu said he would expose the corrupt involvement of some traditional rulers in the South West during the Sani Abacha military rule from the information he had while serving as a Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation. Oba Akiolu also called for collective efforts to combat the scourge of Ebola virus, insurgency and corruption, adding that 99 per cent of Nigerians are guilty of corruption. “The monarch that made the statement that I lifted oil will be shocked when I make certain revelations after the 2015 elections and I think he should close his eyes in shame because as at that time, I was still serving in the Nigeria Police and I wonder how I would have such time to be involved in the lifting of oil. “The problem is not caused by one person. So don’t blame President Goodluck Jonathan 100 per cent for the problems in Nigeria, as about 99 per cent of us are guilty of the syndrome of corruption. “So everyone should be involved in the fight against corruption. “All hands must be on deck to assist the government to bring it to the end.
