Cos Im a raving feminist, just thought Id post this nice piece on women conductors. In articles like this, they always seem to use the term making waves without acknowledging the inbuilt pun. Or maybe its just me? Haha. Anyway, I think the glaring omission on the list of female conductors at the end is Gondwana National Choirs Artistic Director Lyn Williams, with whom I have worked for many years. She rightly pointed out this morning that its something about working with children... Makes you invisible as a musician. Thats one of the primary reasons I find it so difficult to get artist representation with an agent/manager. They just cant believe its something I would actually want to do, yknow, voluntarily. Argh.
