Council to take down Rolf Harris painting A Rolf Harris painting mounted on the wall of a bar in the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre for more than twenty years will be taken down after Bundaberg Regional Council decided to remove the artwork in the wake of recent legal proceedings. Mayor Mal Forman said he and the Councillors today agreed to remove the painting from its current position in the entertainment centre. “While the painting has been mounted on the wall behind the Donald Smith Bar at the Moncrieff for more than two decades, Council feels that it is only appropriate that the artwork be taken down given what has transpired in recent weeks,” he said. “Once taken down, the painting will go into storage with Council’s art collection. It will remain in storage for some time.” Cr Forman said the artwork – a depiction of Uluru - was painted by Rolf Harris after a performance at the Moncrieff in 1992. “Many members of the public attended that show and remember Mr Harris creating the work afterwards. While it had no connection or link to Mr Harris’ indiscretions, and had been on display at the Moncrieff since 1992, Council felt that the right thing to do was remove the work from public display,”
