Countdown to 2015 Session - 110 Days Countdown to 2015 Governors Election - 305 Days COMMON CORE MUST GO I read with amazement the number of opinion pieces running each week from the proponents of Common Core within the media (which appear to be most of the so-called journalists if not all of them). It is clear they see a sinking ship and are trying everything to keep Common Core afloat. The tired and shallow talking points aren’t working but they are sticking to them even as other national groups have surrendered the fact they are no match for the passion of the parents. The media opinion writers have even gone into the cellar with LABI and CABL and used name-calling, ridicule, and now even racism and fiscal irresponsibility to label those of us in opposition. Yet I have not seen one of them at any town hall meeting, and if they had attended, I find it hard to believe they would still be writing with such bias. The opinion pieces criticize the politicians who have changed positions on Common Core for political purposes and perhaps rightly so. However, they fail to recognize that despite being used by the politicians, Common Core opponents will not stop the fight until they have rescued their children from the grips of the elitists who care nothing about their well-being. Oh yea, and don’t forget those pesky American principles that keep getting in the way, like a democratic process, right to express an opinion, and transparency because they were ignored by the special interest groups and the elitists. I am one who stills believes the people will rise up and at some point take back the political process and control of their children. Recently, as parents have continued to fight Common Core, I am even more optimistic.
