Couple things: I have a degree in History. When people say ignorant things, I feel like I have to respond. Its a character flaw, I suppose.... On Twitter, an argument was going on, over Muslims forcing people to convert, and one lunatic made the statement I cannot seem to remember a single case of forced conversion perpetrated by either a Jew or Christian. Amnesia? And I nearly lost my mind.... Surely, no-one is really that ignorant??? To list just ONE example: the Massacre of Verden in 782, during which Charlemagne reportedly had 4,500 captive Saxons massacred upon rebelling against conversion to Christianity, and the Capitulatio de partibus Saxoniae, a law imposed on conquered Saxons in 785 which prescribes death to those that refuse to convert to Christianity. Yes, that was a long time ago, but the discussion didnt have a time limit. Not to mention, the tens of thousands of Jews who were forced to convert to Christianity.... Surely everyone has heard of THE SPANISH INQUISITION!!!!! as well, countless tens of thousands were killed by Christians for not converting in Goa, in India, and of course, right here in the good ol USA. And, of course, in Central America, where the Church murdered hundreds of thousands of natives. How many died in Africa??? Oh, also: in 524 CE the Yemeni Jewish Himyar tribe, led by King Dhu Nuwashad offered Christian residents of a village in Saudi Arabia the choice between conversion to Judaism or death. 20,000 Christians were then massacred after refusing. So, yes, you can find historical examples of Muslims forcibly converting folks to Islam. But you can find just as many horrifying stories of Christians forcibly converting folks, or more commonly, murdering or enslaving them.... Real talk. Yes, Muslims have done a lot of bad things. But, so have Christians and Jews. Putting a date on bad things doesnt make them any less bad.... And, on a personal note, I served in Bosnia, and I was in Srebrenica, where good ol Serbian Christians massacred more than 8,000 Muslim men, women and children. I went to a church built by Serbian Christians, where a mosque had stood for several hundred years. After Serbs took the area, they herded a couple hundred Muslims into the mosque and shot them all. Then they burned down the mosque, and later built a pig slaughterhouse there. And later they bulldozed that, and built a beautiful church there. Yeah, there is hate everywhere, in all religions. REAL TALK.
