Chief Magistrate Adedamola Oyeyipo admitted the accused to bail with two reliable and responsible sureties in like sum who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction. He said the addresses of the sureties must be verified by a court official, and they must submit two passport size photographs each to the court’s registry. He also said that one of the sureties must be a senior civil servant on Grade Level 15, and must submit letter of his last promotion and appointment letter to the court. The Police Prosecutor, Mr Sani Yakubu, told the court that the accused was reported to the Durumi police station by one Kingsley Osuoha, of Durumi, Abuja on Oct 3. The prosecutor said “ the complainant reported that the accused person had, sometimes in August 2012, induced his cook, Barnabas Bozham and one John Ahmadu with the sum of N5 million to give him the certificate of occupancy of plot 1395, Guzape District, Abuja belonging to him (complainant). Yakubu said the accused also deceived them by saying he wanted to use the document as collateral in the bank. He told the court that the accused rather returned a forged copy back to Bozham and Ahmadu, sold the original land documents and converted the money to personal use. “ You returned a cloned copy back to Bozham and Ahmadu and sold the original land document to one Mohammed Mansur who is also resident in Lagos at the rate of N30 million,’’ he said. The prosecutor had said the police were still investigating the matter at the Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS) and the man to whom the land documents were sold was yet to be arrested. The accused denied the charges and the court adjourned the matter until Nov. 21 for hearing. (NAN)
