Court orders security agencies to seize ex-President’s book. Obasanjo went ahead to launch his autobiography titled “My Watch” in defiance of a December 5 court order restraining him from doing so. A High Court in Abuja has ordered the seizure of all copies of former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s controversial book. Obasanjo went ahead to launch his autobiography titled “My Watch” in defiance of a December 5 court order restraining him from doing so. The court today, December 10, instructed the Inspector General of Police, Director-General of State Security Services and the Controller General of the Nigeria Customs Services to confiscate copies of Obasanjo’s book from public vendors. Justice Valentine Ashi in giving the order said: I am of the view that the defendant having gone ahead to publish the book, he should therefore show cause within 21 days of the order served on him on why he should not be punished for contempt of court.” “The Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of State Security Services and the Controller General of Nigeria Customs Services are hereby directed to recover the book from sales vendors,” the Judge added. The court also issued an order restraining Obasanjo from making any further moves to print, publish or circulate the book. The ex-President has attracted controversy with his autobiography in which he describes President Goodluck Jonathan as incompetent, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as a liar and former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu as a thief.
