Courtesy Posting for Dakota County Historical Society THIRD SUNDAY Series: MUSIC AND Author Visit AT THE LeDUC HISTORIC ESTATE October 19, 2014, 5 p.m., marks a Third Sunday of Music and Authors Visit to the LeDuc Historic Estate, 1629 Vermillion Street, Hastings, MN 55033. Featured will by essayist and poet James Silas Rogers with a brief tea and cookie intermission followed by the band, Mischief. Reservations are requested and may be obtained by calling 651-437-7055. The cost for the evenings entertainment is $20 per person. Rogers is a life-long resident of St. Paul. His essays and poems have appeared in a wide range of journals, including New Letters, South Dakota Review, and Minnesota Monthly. He is the author of a book of poems, Sundogs (2006); a poem from this collection was read on Garrison Keillors Writers Almanac. His essays have on two occasions been selected as a notable essay of the year in Best American Essays. Rogers directs the Center for Irish Studies at the University of St. Thomas, where he edits the journal, New Hibernia Review. He has also published widely on Irish-American literature and history. Rogers is a member of the Association for Gravestone Studies. Mischief is a lively band that brings a Celtic flair to their music. The groups members have been reenacting throughout Minnesota, both with music and word. The LeDuc Historic Estate is owned by the City of Hastings and managed by Dakota County Historical Society.
