Craig David Ft. Sting - Rise and Fall Ive had this jam on - TopicsExpress

Craig David Ft. Sting - Rise and Fall Ive had this jam on repeat all morning, an antidote of sort to the searing pangs from the rear of my head. Between Craig David and Lil Bow Wow lies my love interest while I was growing up: I grew up and we grew apart, but the subtleties of today has ignited an old flame. While Mr. Bow Wow remained on the periphery, never quite reaching the heights expected of him - musically and physically; Craig slinked off into oblivion. All that beauty. This song, however, is evergreen. Craig Davids slicker-than-average voice on the verse, Sting rendering an amazing jab with the hook. But there is more that appeals to my senses: the very plea in the lyrics. Im uncertain about the details of the singers life but when he started his verse with: I was always say that I was gonna make it Now its plain for everyone to see But this game Im in dont take no prisoners Just casualties... Craig David set the tone for a four minute ride of soul searching lyrics which would carry on into eternity, offering a perspective to every cliché in music and entertainment from stardom, responsibility, recklessness, the inevitable fall, and a chance to do it all again (emphasis). In verse 11, he gave an insight to the possible cause of his misdirection: ...some things you may find can take over your life. Burned all my bridges now Ive runned out of places And there is no one left for me to turn Being caught in comprising situations I should have learned From all those times I didnt work away When I knew it was best to go Is it too late to show you the shape of my heart? Whilst some people may not understand why a young, rich, and widely-adored entertainer could be knocking on heavens gate for mercy; or better still, as recently happened, why an older man who made others laugh is himself sad to the point of taking his own life: we can all, to varied extents, relate to the challenges of youth and the exuberance that comes with it, things that are in hindsight called Mistakes. That an action was pre-meditated does not exempt it from being a mistake. That one has supposedly learned from it does not negate a possible repeat. Sadly, some of us are well-situated on the morality pedestal not so much for our desire of chastity but to get a relatively high ground to chastise others when they fall short of our expectations (no pun nor Bow Wow jibes intended.) In the end, few (if any) would understand the demons we each face when the light goes out and the smile thins. We are, however, indebted first to ourselves, then our society to be the best persons, and lead the best live, we can. It is a long journey without a travel guide and there are ditches that would need trained navigation ahead. We are lucky if we found people helping us out of the ditch as there definitely will be the fall. There will be the Rise and Fall. Welcome to the morning after. *off to grow Craig-esque sideburns*
