Cranium Pause for Thought - Im not fond of how the Quran - TopicsExpress

Cranium Pause for Thought - Im not fond of how the Quran issues out outrageously draconian punishments for huge laundry list of sins or human behavior or even just being a particular kind of human that may have been perhaps the norm at its creation but we have hopefully evolved beyond (albeit ISIL (Dashi) not getting the memo). Mohammed was pretty concerned about things that werent his business, utterly irrelevant to the worlds actual suffering and pretty male-hetero-normative centric. But then so was Moses and Paul. Which is my point. Radicals practicing a version of Islam that by all measures is barbaric and horrific shouldnt mean that we should all believe they speak for the correct interpretation of the Islamic doctrine (even if they are following parts of it quite literally - and arguably properly) nor do they speak for all Muslim or their faith. Heres what Christians need to remember... (and, yes, we get it all you self-proclaimed Buddhists and Atheists - youre so much more evolved than we are) And its not the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, the entire Middle Ages, the Mayans, all of California, the Puritans, Calvinism, the Moral Majority, The Trinity Broadcasting Network, or Jesscia Hann - or any of all that Christian History. Although it should be. Its this... if the Popes new advancement of Catholicism yesterday or the less recent movement of the Protestant mainline and high-church denominations prove anything, its that people dont have to agree with or adhere to all of their churchs doctrines, prior doctrines, leaders, theologies, rituals or HOLY SCRIPTURES AND TEXTS to still find community or faith there. And thats okay. So ISIL (Dashi) or the insanity of a lot of the Middle Eastern Islam shouldnt be placed upon all Muslims. Even when its easy or comforting to do so.
