Cranky old man rant #n: So we (the US) can blithely bail out AIG, the major banks and GM but we are unable to grant relief to indebted college students or pensioners even as we promise to underwrite the next Wall Street bubble. It seems to me that saving for your retirement or investing in your education should be less risky and more valued than credit default swaps. How about a bail out for students and retirees. (Full disclosure. Both these issues hit very close to home.)
