Romans 12:1-2 There is no magic day or time to give your life to Christ. Remember what Christ did for you, how he changed your life? Before you gave your life to Christ; maybe you had an addiction or something you really enjoyed. You will be reminded of that at some point; as your old life may tug at you a little. 1. Growing Pains! a. In life when growth is required, it can be painful at times. b. A new or better job, a new relationship or marriage, new friendships, all require growth. c. As a Christian, we cannot give our bodies as living sacrifices and still hold onto parts of our sinful life. d. These sacrifices will be painful, but it doesn’t mean abandonment of all things you know in this life. 2. Establish new patterns of life. a. Life has different seasons and changes. b. We all create new patterns in life for ourselves. c. ‘When you became a Christian did you feel like new patterns had set in?’ d. You may struggle with your old sinful life and because of these patterns in your new life- prayer, devotion and friendships you can overcome them. e. You will see a higher purpose in your life when you allow yourself to be saturated with God. 3. Knowing Gods will comes from doing his will. a. You do God’s will by honoring & obeying him and it’s not always easy. b. You must abandon your old ways of thinking and have a new perspective, be in line with God’s point of view. c. When this happens; it will be easier to hear God’s voice in any situation. 4. Find fulfillment and satisfaction in what God created you to be. a. Verse 1 says: ‘to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship.’ b. This can mean three different things: . i. Your sacrifice is Reasonable in light of all God has offered us. -not a one of us is where God wants us to be in this life. . ii. Your sacrifice is Spiritual, offering yourself in spiritual service. -through worship we have the opportunity to offer ourselves as a sacrifice to the Lord to use. .iii. Your sacrifice is intelligent, offered with complete awareness of God’s goodness to you. -You have the opportunity to find God’s will in your life. -You can deny, accept or fulfill it and find satisfaction in doing His will. Christianity is not like a New Year’s Resolution. Faith in Jesus Christ is best made when you feel the Spirit lead you. God wants to see a complete life change. Take time and ask God to reveal his will to you.
