Creepy #11 is one of my favorites editions from Warrens first two - TopicsExpress

Creepy #11 is one of my favorites editions from Warrens first two years of publishing. The Creepy #11 copy that I received from Warren as a youth was slightly water damaged, but the great Frazetta cover was still in decent shape. As a kid of 10 years old ordering back issues in the mid 70s, I discovered that I could get issues #2 to #27 of Creepy for 50 cents each by using old, out-dated back issue coupons from my older Creepy magazines, instead of the current coupons that listed these issues at $2.00 to $3.00 each. Warren would still honor the lower prices noted on the old coupons, but I later realized they were sending me seconds or not-so-perfect copies to fill these orders. But as a kid, I didnt care much, I was still getting my coveted editions at a fraction of their current asking price. This issue has the great Poe story Hop-Frog with some fantastic art by Reed Crandall, Sore Spot drawn by legendary Joe Orlando, The Doorway! which was possibly Dan Adkins top Warren effort, The Black Death! by Ron Parker, Beast Man! by Archie Goodwin and Steve Ditko (my favorite Ditko story EVER), The Devil to Pay with terrific art by Donald Norman and Skeleton Crew! rendered by Angelo Torres, which was one of his best Warren stories, right behind Pursuit of the Vampire from Creepy #1. This is a really great issue from Warrens golden era, when it was at its peak.
