Crew stabs chief engineer to death onboard M/V Maria Isabel off Antique waters DOTC-PCG: The chief engineer of a RoRo vessel owned by Montenegro Shipping Lines was stabbed to death by one of his engine crew last Tuesday, 04 June. Initial investigation revealed that Severino Vellonio, 64, attacked and stabbed C/E Nestor Partisala, 58, while M/V Maria Isabel was transiting five nautical miles northwest of Nogas Island, Anini-y, Antique. Vellonio, who was reportedly suffering from a nervous breakdown, was immediately locked down by his crew mates to avoid further killings. Likewise, the master of M/V Maria Isabel called Coast Guard Station (CGS) Iloilo to inform of the stabbing incident. Upon arrival at Lapuz, Wharf in Iloilo City, the joint elements of CGS Iloilo, PNP-Lapaz and SOCO team immediately boarded the vessel to arrest Vellonio and conduct investigation. The suspect was brought to Lapaz, Iloilo City Police Station while the victim was brought to Porras Funeral Parlor for proper disposition. The Coast Guard likewise advised the Master to contact the relatives of C/E Partisala and to file a Marine Protest relative to the incident.
