Cricket: I need to vent and ask advice. Yesterday, my 16 year old grandson was riding his skateboard to Lakewood HS. At about 7:30 am, he rode south on Radnor, checked traffic (there was none) and made his turn onto Harvey toward the school. (Yes, he was riding in the street, like all of the students I see riding their skateboards.) He heard a car and looked around and saw a white SUV type car. It swerved towards him, hit him a glancing hit on his left back, which knocked him off balance, and he went down skinning his face up. The car swerved away from him. Grandson looked up to try to get license #, but the car had disappeared around the corner going north on Lomina. I told him he should have called the Sheriff, but he wasnt sure if he should and went on to school and went to the nurse. Family didnt find out about it until Grandson got home from school in the late afternoon. Poor kids face is all swollen, and tonight he is aching all over. This kid is well liked at school, so I dont think it was a personal thing. But what kind of idiot hits a kid and leaves? Should we have at least notified the Sheriff that this occurred? I realize they could/would not be able to do anything, but thought maybe a report should be made. If you have something negative so say, please dont comment. Im just looking for advice. Thanks.
