Crime and Punishment I dont want to overthink this, but for the - TopicsExpress

Crime and Punishment I dont want to overthink this, but for the last 4 weeks, the amazing Jury that I was on attempted to conclude whether or not there was enough evidence of an elderly man secretly grossly abusing a young girl. We had to ask a simple question: Are you sure it happened? We struggled for days to reach any single unanimous verdict, as there was no rock solid evidence; just loads of obvious patterns and certain indications. Eventually against all odds between us we responsibly got a few majority (10) verdicts: Guilty. We were sure. Post hoc it seems we were dead right. He got a long spell in prison. I cant help but see the metaphor for climate crisis cover-up. CO2 is in the dock. It has been found guilty a thousand times by a thousand Jurys. Yet it is convenient to leave the case file open... #EcocideLaw Those who condone, ignore or cover up abuse of the ecosystem that young lives depend on, will, for *sure*, face the Law one day.
