Criminal charges have been filed against a Chicago male juvenile, 16 years of age, in connection with an aggravated robbery which took place in Skokie. The juvenile, who was referred to Juvenile Court, was charged with one count of Aggravated Robbery. The incident took place on Sunday, August 25, 2013, when Skokie Police Officers responded to the CTA Yellow Line Station, in the 4800 block of Oakton St. A group of teens approached the elderly male victim, who was seated on the platform bench, grabbed the iPad from his hands and ran from the scene. Skokie Officers quickly responded to the area and with the assistance of a witness who indicated the offender’s direction of travel, Officers were able to locate the juvenile offender. There were no injuries as a result of this incident. This charge is a result of teamwork between the Skokie Police Department and the Skokie Community. The public is reminded that neither a complaint nor an indictment is evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
