Cross Over Key 7: The Levitical Percentage Num 35: 1-8: Many of those that crossed over from 2012 to 2013 felt that the ‘God of the crossover’, who is the same ‘God of the Passover’ do not have a portion in their inheritance reserved for His anointed. Therefore, they hold back the Levitical percentage of tithe, thanks offering and seed sowing, hoping to cross over with it into 2014 and still eat the good of the land. Listen, God in creation has created a people called his servants, messengers or anointed and consecrated them to his service on behalf of humanity. This set of people are purposed to serve God all through their lives and while they do, they are to feed well on a portion of the sweat and inheritance of the people of God. Hear God speak to Israel through Moses before the crossing-over. “And the LORD spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying, Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and ye shall give also unto the Levites suburbs for the cities round about them...” First, God did not present this as a wish or a beggarly request, but a command to everyone called by the name of the Lord. Second God’s demand is specific; from the inheritance of your possession. In 1 Timothy 5:17-18 Apostle Paul says that “Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward”. How many of you set apart and gave that portion willingly and cheerfully in 2013? You did not because according to you or your reasons (excuses or defence): (i) you have just a little, which is not enough for you. Yes you have a point, but God does not buy your view, for he said; “and the cities which you will give shall be from the possession of the children of Israel; give many from the smaller you shall give few. Each shall give some of its cities to the Levites, in proportion to the inheritance that each receives” Num 35:8 (ii) you gave in the past and the man of God did not appreciate or recognize you for it; at least accord you with respect or treat you preferentially, so you stopped giving out their portion in your inheritance. James 2:1-9 has a message you need to read (iii) your hands are filled or tight, so cannot afford to spare any for now. If they need anything, let them ask for it. No, you are misconceiving the truth because the command did not say that the anointed of the Lord should ask for what is his portion in your inheritance. therefore, as you navigate the waters of 2014, ensure to let go the levitical percentage, and as you do your compass will locate your land of prosperity, peace and breakthrough and your ship will sail safely therein in Jesus name.
